On this excursion from Casma, we'll enjoy a magical sunset at Chankillo, the oldest astronomical complex in America.

Chankillo Sunset Tour

At 4 pm, we will pick you up at your hotel in Casma to travel to the archaeological site of Chankillo. This site has been part of the World Heritage List since July 2021 and is recognized as the oldest astronomical complex in the Americas, with origins dated between 257 and 201 BC.

During the visit, we will explore the area of the Thirteen Towers to understand the cosmological perspective of the ancient inhabitants. Unlike Stonehenge, which focuses on the summer solstice, Chankillo functioned as an astronomical observatory all year, marking solstices, equinoxes, and the rising and setting of the sun and moon.

As we learn about this ancient observatory's history, we will enjoy a sunset over the Chankillo complex, experiencing the view as it was seen in ancient times.

After the sunset, we will return to your hotel in Casma, arriving between 6 and 6.30 pm.
