Calanques National Park Hike
Join us for a morning hike in Calanques National Park, starting from Avenue des Calanques in Cassis. This nature walk explores the eastern section of the park, showcasing its stunning coves and limestone mountains shaped over 120 million years.
A calanque is an ancient valley carved by a river and flooded by the sea around 12,000 years ago. It is surrounded by rocky peaks, attracting many visitors.
We will walk along the Cassis coastline to the first calanque, Port-Miou, a mile-long (1.5 kilometre) calanque reminiscent of a fjord that extends toward the mainland. Highlights include the marina, discussions on an old quarry, and the underground river in the area.
Continuing along the coast, we will reach Port-Pin and ascend to the Calanque d'En-Vau viewpoint, standing at nearly 400 feet (120 metres) high, offering impressive views of the park.
The tour includes several stops and a break for a swim before concluding back at the starting point.
