Departure from Giardini Naxos’s Harbour. Navigation along the Bay of Naxos, Capo Taormina and the Faraglioni del Capo, the latter being an interesting underwater archaeology site due to the presence of various remains of Greek columns on a 24m depth.
While sailing, it will be possible to admire the scenic Ionian coast of Giardini Naxos on the left, the first Greek colony in Sicily with its ancient medieval castle, Taormina and Castelmola which overlook the entire promontory and the Etna volcano which forms the backdrop to this fantastic naturalistic setting.
After about 30 minutes of navigation, you arrive in the Marine Reserve of Isola Bella (reserve since 1998), a small islet belonging to Ferdinand I of Bourbon in the 1800s and today owned by the Regional Department of Cultural Heritage: here you will visit the Grotta Azur, a famous cave with a special play of light, you will stop for about an hour to relax and have a nice swim.
