On our tour of Castelmezzano and Pietrapertosa, we will explore some beautiful villages in the Lucanian Dolomites with stunning mountain scenery.

Castelmezzano & Pietrapertosa Private Tour

At your chosen time, we will meet in Piazza Emilio Caizzo in Castelmezzano. From there, you will follow the guide's vehicle through the villages of the Lucanian Dolomites, enjoying incredible mountain views.

The tour will begin in the medieval streets of Castelmezzano, where we will walk through its steep stairs to see unique sandstone-roofed houses built on a rocky basin.

Next, we will visit Pietrapertosa. We will see the Church of San Giacomo Maggiore, a medieval building with 17th and 18th-century frescoes and works by local artists like Pietro Antonio Ferro.

In Pietrapertosa, we will observe the remains of the Arabata, an ancient Arab settlement with its Saracen name.

The tour will continue to Pietrapertosa Castle, a Roman fortress significant during the Norman period in the 9th century. The ruins are atop a large rock in the highest part of the Basento Valley, offering spectacular views. Afterward, you will have 2 hours of free time for lunch at a local restaurant.

We will return to the meeting point and conclude the tour 6 to 8 hours after it starts. See you next time!
