On our tour of Castelmezzano and Pietrapertosa, we'll explore beautiful villages in the Lucanian Dolomites, featuring breathtaking mountain scenery.

Castelmezzano & Pietrapertosa Private Tour

At your chosen time, we'll meet in Piazza Emilio Caizzo in Castelmezzano. You will follow the guide's vehicle through the villages of the Lucanian Dolomites, enjoying incredible mountain views.

The tour will start in the medieval streets of Castelmezzano, where we'll walk up and down steep stairs to observe unique sandstone-roofed houses built on a rocky basin.

Next, we'll proceed to Pietrapertosa. Here, we'll visit the Church of San Giacomo Maggiore, a medieval site adorned with 17th and 18th-century frescoes and works by notable local artists such as Pietro Antonio Ferro.

In Pietrapertosa, we will also view the remains of the Arabata, an ancient Arab settlement preserving its Saracen name.

The tour will take us to Pietrapertosa Castle, a Roman fortress significant during the Norman period in the 9th century. The ruins are situated on a large rock at the highest point of the Basento Valley, providing spectacular views of the Lucanian Dolomites. Afterward, you will have 2 hours of free time for lunch at a nearby local restaurant.

We will return to the meeting point and conclude the tour 6 to 8 hours after the start. See you next time!
