At the designated meeting point, we will gather at the Nuno Álvares shopping centre in Castelo Branco and embark in a minibus towards the historic village of Idanha-a-Velha, located around an hour away.

Upon arrival, we will stroll through the village, taking in its significant landmarks, including the Roman bridge, the old mill, and the city walls' gates. You will also have the chance to visit the cathedral ruins and uncover this village's connections to the Knights Templar.

Monsanto is renowned for its impressive granite formations and how the buildings blend seamlessly into the striking landscape. We'll admire the Clock Tower, a 15th-century structure, the beautiful front of the main church, the castle, and many other notable sites, making it impossible to resist snapping photos!

As we explore, we will appreciate the charming Largo do Baluarte, the magnificence of the church and its chapels, and the impressive Lucano Tower, allowing us to absorb the majesty of the castle. Reaching the summit of Monsanto Castle will reward us with breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding area.

After soaking in the stunning vistas, we will pause briefly for you to enjoy lunch at a local eatery or have a picnic nearby.

Next, our adventure takes us to the peaceful town of Penha Garcia. This segment of the tour offers a wonderful opportunity to immerse yourself in nature. We’ll take a leisurely walk along the river beach, marvel at the impressive cliffs, and delve into discussions about the fossils found in this region.

After a full 8 hours of exploration, we will conclude the tour by returning to the original meeting point in Castelo Branco.
