Basilicata Parks Bike Tour
Our adventure begins at 8:30 am in Piazza Piano della Corte, located in the center of Castelsaraceno. After settling on our electric bikes and donning our helmets, we will set off on a 40-kilometer ride (approximately 25 miles) through the beautiful landscapes of this region.
As we traverse a combination of asphalt and dirt trails, we will be surrounded by the vibrant green forests that define the essence of Basilicata.
Peddling through the Appennino Lucano-Val d'Agri-Lagonegrese National Park, stunning vistas filled with local flora will captivate our attention. We will share insights regarding the wildlife endemic to this region, including notable inhabitants like wild boars and wolves.
During our ride, the impressive Mount Raparo will loom above us, with its elevation of 1761 meters (over 5700 feet), providing a remarkable backdrop to our journey.
Continuing on, we will explore Pollino National Park, renowned as the last bastion of the Balkan pine in Italy. As we navigate through the pathways, we will encounter these majestic trees, which are also found in parts of southeastern Europe such as Bulgaria, North Macedonia, and Greece—a true breath of fresh air!
After a fulfilling day cycling through incredible landscapes, we will conclude our tour at 2:30 pm upon returning to our starting point.
