On this bicycle tour of the cape of Santa Maria di Leuca, we'll cycle to discover the history and landscape of the southernmost point of the Salento peninsula.

Tour Details

We'll meet at the designated time at Torre di Salignano, where we will begin our cycle through Santa Maria di Leuca, historically referred to as Finibus Terrae (Land's End).

The 15-kilometre (9.3-mile) cycle commences with views of the Defence Tower, built to protect against Saracen attacks. Moving inland, we will pass by charming villages, farms, and serene trails.

Our next destination is Patù, where we will explore the Centopietre (Hundred Stones) and learn about its historical significance.

Next, we will visit the medieval castle Giuliano, one of the few forts in Salento retaining its original structure, followed by a stop at Barbarano to see the Santuario di Leuca Piccola, a former refuge for pilgrims.

The tour concludes at the Antica Locanda Retró, where participants will enjoy a glass of wine paired with a selection of local cheeses.

After a total of 3 hours exploring the cape of Santa Maria di Leuca, our bicycle adventure will conclude.
