Join us on an enriching day trip to uncover the coastal treasures of Paita and Colán, featuring a visit to a basilica recognized as a National Historic Monument.
Description
Your journey begins with a pickup from your hotel at the appointed hour, followed by travel to the coastal town of Paita.
Upon reaching the town, we'll proceed to the port, where you'll embark on a 20-minute cruise aboard a traditional boat. During this excursion, you'll seek out sea lions while enjoying the sight of remarkable birds, including the blackish oystercatcher, brown pelican, and the blue-footed booby.
As we continue, indulge in some delightful Peruvian chifles, a beloved snack of fried plantain. Next, we’ll visit Yacila Beach, a stunning 0.5-kilometer (0.8 mile) stretch of fine sandy shore where you can take a refreshing dip.
Our adventure then leads us to Colán for a visit to the church of San Lucas, a magnificent 16th-century basilica constructed on the foundations of a pre-Hispanic temple of Capullanas - recognized as the first chapel in the South Pacific.
After exploring the area, you’ll enjoy 1 hour of free time to savor local cuisine and unwind at the Colán Beach Resort, a picturesque beach boasting emerald waters and surrounded by palm trees. Keep your eyes peeled; you might just see some manta rays gliding through the water.
Concluding our day, we’ll return to Piura, with an expected arrival back at your hotel roughly 8 hours and 20 minutes after pickup.
