On this day trip, we'll explore the coastal gems of Paita and Colán, and make a visit to a basilica declared a National Historic Monument.
Description
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel before making our way to the coastal town of Paita.
Upon arrival, we'll head to the port for a 20-minute cruise on a traditional boat, seeking out sea lions and observing birds such as the blackish oystercatcher, brown pelican, and blue-footed booby.
Throughout the tour, you'll sample Peruvian chifles (fried plantain). Afterwards, we'll visit Yacila Beach, a 0.5 kilometre (0.8 mile) stretch of Paita's fine sand beach, where you'll have the chance to take a dip.
We'll then travel to Colán to visit the church of San Lucas, a 16th-century basilica built on the ruins of a pre-Hispanic temple of Capullanas.
At the end of the visit, you'll have 1 hour of free time to eat and relax at the Colán Beach Resort, known for its beautiful beach with emerald waters and palm trees. You may spot some manta rays in this area.
Finally, we'll return to Piura, arriving at your hotel 8 hours and 20 minutes after pickup.
