On this guided tour, discover some of the most iconic sites in Piura and visit Catacaos, known for its artisanal ceramic works and crafts!
Description
We'll start the historical tour at 9 am after pickup at your hotel in Piura.
The first stop will be Plaza de Armas, the city's center, where we will see the Catedral de Piura, constructed in the 16th century. Following this, we will visit the Casa Museo Almirante Miguel Grau, which was restored in 1964 after being destroyed by an earthquake in 1912.
After a guided visit to San Miguel Bridge and the Piura River, which is optional, we'll head towards Simbila, a village about 5 km (3.1 miles) away, known for its ceramic artisans. Nearby is Catacaos, a popular city in the Piura region.
Once in Catacaos, you will have a free hour to enjoy lunch at local restaurants before a guided tour of the old city. Key points of interest include Plaza de Armas, the Monumento al Bachiller Juan de Mori Alvarado, and the San Juan Bautista Temple. We will also visit Market Street for souvenirs.
As we explore Catacaos, we will visit charming shops with regional products. Participants will have the opportunity to taste some local sweets and learn about crafting algarrobina, a sweet syrup. The tour will conclude with a visit to galleries featuring artisanal silver and gold creations.
The tour will end with a return to Piura at 4 pm.
