Description
We'll start the tour at 9 am after pickup at your hotel in Piura.
Our first stop will be the Plaza de Armas, where we will see the Catedral de Piura, built in the 16th century. Next, we will visit the Casa Museo Almirante Miguel Grau, which was rebuilt in 1964 after being destroyed by an earthquake in 1912.
Following a guided visit to the San Miguel Bridge and the Piura River (optional), we’ll travel to Simbila, a village about 5 km (3.1 miles) away, home to ceramic artisans. Nearby is the city of Catacaos.
In Catacaos, you'll have a free hour for lunch at a local restaurant before a guided tour of the old city. Key points include Plaza de Armas, the Monumento al Bachiller Juan de Mori Alvarado, and the San Juan Bautista Temple. We will also visit Market Street for ceramic souvenirs.
As we explore Catacaos, we will visit shops with region-specific products. You'll have the chance to savor regional sweets and learn about the crafting of algarrobina, a sweet syrup. The tour concludes with visits to galleries showcasing artisanal silver and gold creations.
We will return to Piura at 4 pm.
