On this guided tour, discover some of the most iconic sites in Piura, and visit Catacaos, a city known for its artisanal ceramic works and crafts!
Description
The tour starts at 9 am after pickup at your hotel in Piura.
The first stop is Plaza de Armas, the city's center, where we will see the Catedral de Piura, built in the 16th century. Next, we will visit the Casa Museo Almirante Miguel Grau, which was damaged after an earthquake in 1912 and later repaired in 1964.
After a guided visit to San Miguel Bridge and the Piura River (optional), we will head to Simbila, a small village 5 km (3.1 miles) away known for its ceramic artisans. Nearby is the city of Catacaos.
In Catacaos, you will have a free hour for lunch at local restaurants, followed by a guided tour of the old city, where we will see sites such as Plaza de Armas, the Monumento al Bachiller Juan de Mori Alvarado, and the San Juan Bautista Temple. A visit to Market Street for souvenirs is also included.
During the stroll through Catacaos, we will explore shops with local products and savor typical sweets. You will learn about crafting the renowned algarrobina, a sweet syrup. The tour concludes with visits to galleries featuring artisanal silver and gold creations.
The tour will conclude with a return to Piura at 4 pm.
