An ancient 18th-century cathedral, the mangroves of San Pedro de Vice, and desert landscapes are the focal points of this excursion to the province of Sechura. This trip includes diverse landscapes and sandboarding.
Description
The tour begins with a pick-up at your hotel in Piura at 9 am, followed by a minibus ride southwest to Sechura, lasting approximately an hour and a half.
In Sechura, we will visit its notable sites, including the Plaza de Armas and the San Martín de Tours church, the principal temple dating back to 1770, where we will discuss its history and admire its baroque architecture.
Next, we will explore the mangroves of San Pedro de Vice, observing the scenery and migratory birds from locations like Canada. This will provide an opportunity to learn about the local wildlife in the estuary of Sechura.
Following this, we will visit Chulliyachi beach for an hour of free time to have lunch and explore the golden sandy bay. We will observe the ruins of a ghost town, including its church and old mud houses that were once home to Sechuran fishermen, now abandoned due to erosion.
Finally, we will head to Médano Blanco, known for its dunes in the Sechura desert, where you will receive a sandboard to enjoy sliding down the dunes. The excursion concludes at 5:30 pm when we will drop you off at your hotel.
