At the appointed time, we'll meet in the Piazza Università, where we'll start this free tour of Catania, which has been devastated by volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, and war. Are you ready to discover the most fascinating chapters of its history?

The guided tour will cover the origins of this Sicilian town while admiring the Roman amphitheatre, a 2nd-century construction built with basaltic stone from Mount Etna. We'll learn about the founding of the Greek town of Katane and progress through history to the fall of the Roman Empire.

The tour will also explore the life of composer Vincenzo Bellini, known as The Swan of Catania, and the legend of Saint Agatha, the city's patron saint.
