Tour Details

We will meet at Piazza dell'Università to begin our guided tour of Catania.

We'll discuss the city’s origins and significant events, such as the lava flow in 1669 and the earthquake in 1693 in the Val di Noto.

Next, we'll walk to Piazza del Duomo and the Elephant Fountain, where you'll learn about the local legend of Liotru.

We'll visit the Catania Cathedral and the Town Hall courtyard, both important to Agatha of Sicily, the town's patron saint. After crossing the Fontana dell'Amenano, you can explore the vibrant fish market.

Transitioning to the tranquil Via dei Crociferi, a Baroque example, you'll discover connections to Catania post-1693 earthquake.

We will return to Piazza dell'Università, passing Baroque buildings and decorated lamp posts, and conclude at the Roman Amphitheatre of Catania, made of unique black volcanic stone.

This guided tour lasts 2 hours and 15 minutes.
