Would you like to discover the power of Sicily's most famous volcano? On this tour about the eruption of Etna in Catania, we'll see how this natural phenomenon changed the landscape of the city. A very interesting tour!

Description

At the indicated time we'll meet in front of the Church of San Nicolò, from where we'll start a tour all about Mount Etna. We'll remember its eruptions and see the repercussions they had on the city of Catania while we discover some significant sites.

First of all, we'll enter the courtyard of the Benedictine monastery of Catania. This historic site was damaged by the eruption of 1669, which left important remains like blocks of lava several metres high.

We'll continue our tour descending towards the Baths of the Rotonda and the Roman theatre, sharing the history of the Amenano River, which is largely underground today.

From this point, we'll head towards the Castello Ursino, a fortress almost completely surrounded by lava flow, discussing how this phenomenon influenced the city's architecture.

If you take the tour in the morning, we'll follow the solidified lava flow to the A putia dell'Ostello hostel, showcasing a hidden jewel in its small bar. For the afternoon tour, we'll visit the Pozo di Gammazita, associated with the 1669 eruption and its interesting legend.

We'll finish this tour of the Etna eruption in Catania at the bar of the hostel after 2 hours.
