Want to discover what is underground Catania? On this tour, we'll head under the city in search of hidden churches, tunnels, and mysterious passageways.

Tour Details

We'll meet at the designated time at Piazza Stesicoro to begin to discover underground Catania. Throughout the tour, we'll visit 3 historical sites hidden under the earth.

Our first stop will be the Roman Amphitheatre, an important monument visible above ground, which is part of our underground tour of the historic center. The site dates back to the 2nd century AD and is located within the Greco-Roman archaeological park of Catania.

Afterwards, we'll visit the Sant'Eupilo Crypt, a Roman tomb from the imperial era found under the ruins of a church destroyed in World War II bombings. Here, we'll learn about the saint who gave this crypt its name.

We'll proceed to the San Giuliano Crypt, located under a church of the same name, where we'll discover its history and function.

To conclude the tour, we'll stop by a kiosk for snacks and a drink. The tour will end at Piazza Universià after a total duration of 2.5 hours.
