Want to discover what is underground Catania? On this tour, we'll head under the city in search of hidden churches, tunnels, and mysterious passageways.

Tour Details

We'll meet at Piazza Stesicoro to begin our exploration of underground Catania. Throughout the tour, we'll visit 3 historical sites hidden beneath the earth.

Our first stop will be the Roman Amphitheatre, an important monument from the 2nd century AD, now within the Greco-Roman archaeological park of Catania.

Afterwards, we'll visit the Sant'Eupilo Crypt, originally a Roman tomb from the imperial era under the ruins of a church destroyed in World War II bombings. Here, we'll learn about the history of the saint for whom the crypt is named.

Next, we'll head to the San Giuliano Crypt under the church of the same name, where we will discover its history and former function.

To conclude the tour, we'll enjoy some snacks and a drink at a kiosk, and the tour will end at Piazza Universià after a total of 2.5 hours.
