Pickup is at 8 a.m. from your hotel in San Ignacio, followed by a journey of about an hour and a half to the Actun Tunichil Muknal Cave, one of the most visited Mayan archaeological sites in Belize.

Within the cave, learn how the Mayans understood and worshipped death. You will see human skeletons over a thousand years old, victims of sacrifices to the god Chaac. During the exploration, up to 14 sets of human remains will be observed, with explanations on their burial significance in this site. The history of the Crystal Maiden will also be discussed, along with the practice of burying individuals with pottery and clay.
