Join us on this fantastic trip to Altun Ha to discover an amazing Mayan archaeological site. You will walk among the ruins of altars and temples that once formed part of an ancient city.

Altun Ha Trip

We will pick you up at 8 a.m from your accommodation in San Ignacio before setting off for the ancient Mayan city of Altun Ha, about an hour's drive away. The name means "Rockstone Water" in the indigenous Mayan language.

Once there, we will recall the way of life of the Mayan civilization as we pass through the two zones that make up the archaeological site. In Plaza A, we will find the ruins of the Temple of the Tomb where jewels, jade, and flint were found.

The tour will also take us to Plaza B where we will encounter the magnificent Temple of the Sun God. This area is home to stone figures and the altars of the Temple of the Masonry Altars, considered one of the most important ceremonial centers of the Mayan people.

On the way back to San Ignacio, we will stop for lunch consisting of rice, beans, chicken, and fried plantain. The trip concludes at 3:45 p.m. when we accompany you back to your hotel.
