Atun Ha Trip

Join us on this trip to Altun Ha to discover a Mayan archaeological site. You will walk among the ruins of altars and temples that were part of an ancient city.

Atun Ha Trip

We will pick you up at 8 a.m. from your accommodation in San Ignacio before setting off for the ancient Mayan city of Altun Ha, about an hour's drive away. The name means "Rockstone Water" in the indigenous Mayan language.

Once there, we will explore the Mayan civilization as we pass through the two zones of the archaeological site. In Plaza A, we will find the ruins of the Temple of the Tomb, where jewels, jade, and flint were discovered.

The tour continues to Plaza B, home to the Temple of the Sun God, featuring impressive stone figures. We will also visit the altars of the Temple of the Masonry Altars, an important ceremonial center of the Mayan people.

On the return to San Ignacio, we will enjoy a lunch of rice, beans, chicken, and fried plantain. The trip concludes at your hotel by 3:45 p.m.
