Travel back in time to the Mayan era on this day trip to the archaeological site of Lamanai. You'll sail along the Nuevo River and explore the pyramids and temples of this pre-Columbian city.
Description
Pickup from your hotel in San Ignacio starts at 6 am, followed by a journey to the dock at Bats Landing, leading to the northern part of the country, known as the northern lowlands.
Upon arrival at the New River dock, we will embark on a journey across the lagoon, uncovering over 3000 years of Mayan history. During the trip, we may see wildlife such as the boat-billed heron, various crocodiles, river turtles, and hear the calls of Yucatan black howler monkeys as we explore the forest.
At the archaeological site, a knowledgeable guide will assist us based on our interests. We will spend about 1.5 hours on site, concluding with a lunch. After lunch, we will return to the New River dock.
After a day filled with exploration, we will drop you back at your hotel.
