Travel back in time to the Mayan era with a day trip to the archaeological site of Lamanai. You'll sail along the Nuevo River and stroll among the pyramids and temples of this pre-Columbian city.

Description

Pick-up from your hotel in San Ignacio begins at 6 am, followed by a journey to the dock known as Bats Landing, leading to the northern lowlands of the country.

Upon arrival at the New River dock, embark on a journey across the lagoon to explore over 3000 years of Mayan history. During this excursion, look for wildlife such as the boat-billed heron, crocodiles, river turtles, and listen for the Yucatan black howler monkeys as you proceed into the forest.

At the archaeological site, a knowledgeable tour guide will lead the exploration tailored to your interests. Spend approximately 1.5 hours at the site before enjoying a lunch. After lunch, return to the New River dock.
