Travel back in time to the Mayan era with this day trip to the archaeological site of Lamanai. You will sail along the Nuevo River and explore the pyramids and temples of this pre-Columbian city.
Description
Pick-up from your hotel in San Ignacio is at 6 am, followed by transport to Bats Landing, leading to the northern lowlands of the country.
Upon arrival at the New River dock, embark on a journey across the lagoon, diving into over 3000 years of Mayan history. Wildlife such as boat-billed herons, crocodiles, river turtles, and Yucatan black howler monkeys may be observed as you traverse the ancient forest.
At the archaeological site, a knowledgeable tour guide will assist you, focusing on your interests. You will spend approximately 1.5 hours exploring the site before enjoying a delicious lunch. Following lunch, we will return to the New River dock.
After a day filled with adventure, we will drop you back at your hotel.
