Travel back in time to the Mayan era with this day trip to the archaeological site of Lamanai. You will sail along the Nuevo River and explore the significant pyramids and temples of this pre-Columbian city.
Description
Pickup from your hotel in San Ignacio will start at 6 am, followed by a journey to the dock known as Bats Landing, leading us to the northern part of the country, referred to as the northern lowlands.
Upon arrival at the New River dock, you will embark on a voyage across the lagoon, exploring over 3000 years of Mayan history. During this excursion, you may see the boat-billed heron, both fresh and saltwater crocodiles, river turtles, and hear the howls of Yucatan black howler monkeys as you venture into the forest that was part of this civilization.
At the archaeological site, a tour guide will assist you, addressing specific interests. You will spend approximately 1.5 hours exploring the site, concluding with a lunch. After lunch, you will return to the New River dock.
After a day filled with adventure, you will be dropped back at your hotel.
