The historical tour of Cefalù commences at the Giudecca Gate. Nearby lies the Jewish quarter, our first stop. The tour explores the historical eras of Cefalù and the legacy of its Jewish community. We will visit the port and see notable film locations such as Indiana Jones 5 and New Cinema Paradiso. We will progress to Porta Pescara, and then to the historic center to explore a medieval washhouse and the Palazzo Mandralisca, which houses a museum with Byzantine icons. The Cathedral of the Transfiguration, an example of Arab-Norman architecture, will also be visited to appreciate its gilded mosaic in the apse.

Archeological Tour of Cefalù

Meeting at 13 Via Umberto I, the tour begins at the Archaeological Park of La Rocca. We will ascend along a fortified medieval pathway to the fortress of La Rocca, exploring Byzantine archaeological remnants including the temple of Diana and a 9th-century BC cistern, along with ancient walls and ovens. The tour concludes back at the starting point.
