Certosa di Padula Tour

After pickup at your hotel in Palinuro, we will travel by bus to Padula, home to the Charterhouse of San Lorenzo, known as the Certosa di Padula. Upon arrival at the monastery, a World Heritage Site since 1998, we will view its Baroque façade. Inside, our guide will explain the Carthusian rule and its influence on the charterhouse's architecture.

We will explore areas dedicated to contemplation, such as chapels and the church, where we can see polychrome altar decorations and 16th-century choirs. We will also visit workspaces including the laundries, large kitchen, and library of the Reggia del Silenzio (Palace of Silence), with its impressive marble spiral staircase.

During the tour, we will visit the famous cloisters, including the Great Cloister, which dates back to the late 18th century. Covering 15,000 square meters and surrounded by a portico with 84 arches, it is one of the largest cloisters in the world.

After a four-hour excursion, we will return to the hotels in Palinuro to conclude the experience.
