Certosa di Padula Tour

After pickup at your hotel in Palinuro, we will travel by bus to Padula, in Salerno, home to the Charterhouse of San Lorenzo, known as the Certosa di Padula. Once we arrive, we will observe its Baroque façade followed by an explanation of the Carthusian rule and its influence on the architectural structure.

We will explore areas dedicated to contemplation, such as the chapels and church, featuring polychrome altar decorations and 16th-century choirs. Additionally, we will see workspaces such as the laundries, kitchen, and library of the Reggia del Silenzio (Palace of Silence), including the notable marble spiral staircase.

During the tour, we will also visit the cloisters of the Padula Charterhouse, including the Great Cloister from the late 18th century. This cloister spans 15,000 square meters and is surrounded by a portico with 84 arches, making it one of the largest in the world.

After a four-hour excursion, we will return to the hotels in Palinuro to conclude the experience.
