Certosa di Padula Tour

After pickup at your hotel in Palinuro, we will travel by bus to Padula, home to the Charterhouse of San Lorenzo, known as the Certosa di Padula. This grand religious complex, declared a World Heritage Site in 1998, features an impressive Baroque façade. Inside, our guide will explain the Carthusian rule and its influence on the architectural design.

We will explore contemplation areas, including chapels and the church, highlighting the polychrome altar decorations and 16th-century choirs. The tour also includes work spaces, such as the laundries, large kitchen, and library of the Reggia del Silenzio, accessed via a striking marble spiral staircase.

Additionally, we will visit the famous cloisters of the Padula Charterhouse, particularly the Great Cloister from the late 18th century, which spans 15,000 square meters and features a portico with 84 arches, making it one of the largest cloisters globally.

After a four-hour excursion, we will return to hotels in Palinuro, concluding the experience.
