Cricova Winery & Orheiul Vechi + Curchi Monasteries Day Trip

On this excursion from Chisinau, we'll visit the Cricova winery and the monasteries of Orheiul and Vechi, two treasures of Moldovan cultural heritage.

Description

At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Chisinau to explore some of Moldova's prominent cultural landmarks.

Our first stop will be at two renowned monasteries: the Curchi and Orheiul Vechi monasteries. Curchi is located in the Vatici Valley amid the Codru forests. We will discuss the history of the monastery and Moldovan religious architecture.

Next, we'll visit Orheiul Vechi, an open-air museum featuring the ruins of ancient settlements and fortresses, including the Mongol city of Shehr Jedid and a rock church. After exploring these sites, you'll have free time for a meal at a traditional restaurant offering typical Moldovan cuisine.

After the meal, we'll head to the Cricova winery, the second-largest in the country. Their wines are stored in caves at depths of 60 to 80 meters (196 to 262 feet). We'll take a tour of the facilities and learn about the winemaking process. After the visit, we'll return to Chisinau and drop you off at your hotel after approximately 8 hours of activity.
