On this day trip in Transnistria, we'll visit two cities in the breakaway region of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic: Tiraspol and Bender.

Day Trip Details

At the indicated time, we will pick you up from your Chisinau hotel and head northeast, crossing the Dniester River towards the border between Moldova and Ukraine.

During this tour, we will explore the most prominent cities in Transnistria. Transnistria declared its independence from Moldova in 1990, following a two-year war. The Moldovan government and the European community have not recognized this independence, and only three other small separatist states in Eastern Europe support the secession. However, Transnistria operates with its own government, police force, constitution, and currency, the Transnistrian ruble.

After passing through passport control, we will drive to the town of Bender, also known as Tighina. Here, we will visit the Memorial to Military Glory, the Tighina Fortress, and the train station.

Next, we will explore Tiraspol, the capital of Transnistria. We will embark on a panoramic tour of the city, starting with October 25th Avenue and making stops at landmarks such as the Stalin Empire building, former USSR factories, Suvorov Square, and the University.

After our visit, we will have free time for lunch, and then we will meet again to cross the border back to Moldova and return to Chisinau.

Arrival at your hotel is scheduled 6 hours after pickup.
