Transnistria Day Trip

On this day trip in Transnistria, we'll visit two cities in the breakaway region of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic: Tiraspol and Bender.

Day Trip Details

At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your Chisinau hotel and head northeast, crossing the Dniester River towards the border between Moldova and Ukraine.

During this tour, we'll explore the prominent cities in Transnistria. Transnistria declared its independence from Moldova in 1990, leading to a two-year war. The Moldovan government and the European community have never recognized this independence. Transnistria operates with its own government, police force, constitution, and currency, the Transnistrian ruble.

After passing through passport control, we'll drive to the town of Bender, also known as Tighina. Here, we'll visit the Memorial to Military Glory, the Tighina Fortress, and the train station.

Next, we'll explore Tiraspol, the capital of Transnistria. We'll embark on a panoramic tour starting with October 25th Avenue and making stops to explore landmarks such as the Stalin Empire building, former USSR factories, Suvorov Square, and the University on foot.

After our visit, you'll have free time for lunch. Then, we'll meet again to cross the border back to Moldova and return to Chisinau.
