Kuelap Fortress Day Trip

After hotel pickup, we'll leave Chachapoyas and head south to Nuevo Tingo. We will take a 20-minute cable car ride to Kuelap, an ancient settlement at the top of the Amazonian Andes.

As we approach, we'll see the 20 metre high stone walls surrounded by cliffs and the Peruvian Amazonia. After a 20-minute uphill walk, we'll arrive at the Kuelap architectural complex.

We will explore the site to view the circular structures from the 5th century AD, including El Tintero (Inkwell), the Templo Mayor (Main Temple), and the Torreón (Tower). Kuelap is the largest archaeological monument of pre-Incan civilizations in Peru.

Afterwards, we will stop for lunch at a local restaurant, featuring a menu of soup followed by chicken, fish, or beef.

At the end of the trip, we will take the cable car back down to Nuevo Tingo, and then drive back to Chachapoyas for a return to your hotel, completing the trip approximately 9 hours after pickup.
