Kuelap Fortress Day Trip
After picking you up from your hotel at the indicated time, we’ll leave Chachapoyas and head south to Nuevo Tingo. Upon arrival, we will use the cable car for a 20-minute ride to Kuelap, an ancient settlement located at the top of the Amazonian Andes.
As we approach the site, we will observe the 20-meter high stone walls surrounded by cliffs and the Peruvian Amazonia. After an uphill walk of about 20 minutes, we will reach the Kuelap architectural complex.
We will explore the site to discover the circular structures that date back to the 5th century AD, such as El Tintero (Inkwell), the Templo Mayor (Main Temple), and the Torreón (Tower). Kuelap is recognized as the largest archaeological monument of pre-Incan civilizations in Peru.
After the exploration, we will stop for lunch at a local restaurant, with a menu including soup followed by a main course of chicken, fish, or beef.
At the end of the trip, we will take the cable car back down to Nuevo Tingo. From there, we will drive back to Chachapoyas and return you to your hotel, arriving approximately 9 hours after pickup.
