On this private excursion around the north of Mauritius, you'll discover Port Louis, the island’s capital, visit Pamplemousses with its botanical gardens, an old sugar factory museum, and the Labourdonnais plantation for rum and tropical sorbets.

Description

After hotel pickup, we will go to Port Louis, the capital established by French colonies in the 17th century, now a commercial centre and the most important harbour in the region. We will explore Central Market, a traditional commercial space.

Next, we will visit Caudan Waterfront, a peninsula that is the commercial centre of Port Louis, featuring historic buildings now housing restaurants and shops.

Our guide will take you to Chinatown, passing through the ‘friendship gate’ and visiting Fort Adelaide, the colonial citadel. There will be free time for lunch.

We will then head to the Botanical Gardens in Pamplemousses, where you can admire the giant water lilies. On the day of the activity, you can enhance your experience by adding a visit to an old sugar factory, “L’Aventure du Sucre,” a museum showcasing a sugar cane plantation and fruit gardens. You will tour restored halls and sample rum, juice, and jams.

The tour concludes with a return to your hotel, approximately 8 hours after pickup.
