Chanchamayo & Tarma Waterfalls Adventure

Your adventure begins with a pick-up from your La Merced hotel at 8 am as we embark on a tour of the Chanchamayo province.

The first stop will be at the Velo de la Novia de Pan de Azúcar waterfall, renowned for its beauty and distinct from a similarly named waterfall in the Perené Valley. Following this, we will travel through the La Virgen tunnel, referred to as the ‘golden door’ to the central jungle, leading us to the captivating Ducha del Diablo waterfall.

Continuing our journey, we will visit the Yanango and Carpapata viewpoints, where panoramic views of the highlands meet the lush Peruvian jungle, providing an ideal backdrop to appreciate the incredible Amazonian landscape!

Next, we will head towards Acobamba, situated within the Tarma province. Here, we will explore the National Sanctuary of Muruhuay, which honors the Lord of Muruhuay, the name given to a rock-carved image of Jesus Christ on a cross.

Afterward, we will venture to the Huagapo Cave, known as one of the deepest caves in South America. Inside, you will be awed by the impressive formations of stalactites and stalagmites while also learning about the cave's name, which translates to "tears of the mighty" in Quechua.

Once we complete our cave exploration, we will return to Muruhay for a break, allowing you some time to enjoy lunch. Our final destination is the charming city of Tarma, often referred to as the Pearl of the Andes. A guided walk through the streets will reveal colonial architecture, including visits to the Plaza de Armas and the Odria Museum.

After concluding our tour in Tarma, we will journey back to La Merced, ensuring you are returned to your hotel after an enriching nine-hour experience.
