Charleston Walking Tour
We will meet across from the Harbor View Inn at Waterfront Park to start the walking tour of Charleston. The tour will begin at Waterfront Park, proceeding south towards The Battery, discussing the history of the early fort of Charles Towne.
We will spend time at White Point Gardens, relaxing in the shade of 300-year-old oak trees while exploring the area's history. Our walk will continue up Meeting Street, where we will pass notable mansions and learn about the history of the city. Key sights will include old slave markets, grand churches, historic theatres, and the balcony where George Washington addressed the citizens of Charleston 227 years ago.
Participants will observe beautiful window boxes, antebellum homes, and buildings of historical significance. The tour will reveal the original defensive wall of Charleston, the Pineapple Fountain, and the site of a large British fort from the Revolutionary War.
The tour will conclude back near Waterfront Park after 2.5 hours, providing participants with a wealth of knowledge about Charleston's history.
