Charleston Walking Tour
On this walking tour of Charleston, we will explore the city's history. We will meet at the Harbor View Inn at Waterfront Park and start our journey into Charleston's past.
The tour begins at Waterfront Park, and we will head south towards The Battery. As we walk, we’ll discuss the early fort of Charles Towne and share stories about the city's history.
Next, we will relax under the shade of 300-year-old oak trees at White Point Gardens, where we will explore the area's vibrant history, from the early fort to its current status as a bustling city.
As we stroll up Meeting Street, we will encounter beautiful mansions and learn about the history embedded in the surroundings, including old slave markets, grand churches, historic theaters, and the balcony where George Washington addressed Charleston 227 years ago.
Throughout the tour, we will see window boxes, antebellum homes, and significant historical sites, including Charleston's original defensive wall, the Pineapple Fountain, and a large British fort from the Revolutionary War.
The tour concludes back near Waterfront Park after 2.5 hours, enriching participants with new knowledge.
