Are you a first-time visitor or a new resident looking to get introduced to Charlotte? This signature UPTOWN FUNK tour is a 1 hour and 1-mile loop of the city centre highlighting Charlotte's history, sports, arts and culture. Let us share what is memorable about the Queen City with you!

Description

On the day of the activity, at the scheduled time, we'll meet at the Spiral Odyssey Sculpture in Romare Bearden Park. We'll begin this walking tour of the city to discover its charms. This tour is suitable for visitors and residents alike. Starting at the park, we'll explore how the city has evolved from a trading post along the Catawba path to a banking hub. We'll learn about the impact of former gold mines on the economy and the transformation from milltowns to a modern metropolis.

We'll cover the legacy of Queen Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz and the contributions of notable figures like Romare Bearden and Michael Jordan. The tour will include stops to view street art, skyscrapers, and significant landmarks.

After 1 hour and nearly 2 kilometres of walking, we'll conclude at the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art.
