Description

On the day of the tour, we will convene at the Spiral Odyssey Sculpture located in Romare Bearden Park. From this unique meeting point, we will embark on an exciting urban exploration to uncover the captivating elements of Charlotte. Whether you are just visiting, a long-time resident, or new to the city, this tour is designed to provide a fascinating insight into both Charlotte's historical and contemporary landscape. Are you ready to explore? Let's begin!

Our tour kicks off in this picturesque park, where the harmony of vibrant green spaces and artistic installations sets the tone. As we depart the park, our knowledgeable guide will illustrate the city's transformation from its origins as a modest trading hub along the Catawba path to its current status as a booming financial center. We will uncover the impact of historical gold mining and track the city’s growth from milltowns to a bustling urban metropolis.

Continuing on our journey through Charlotte, we will explore the intriguing legacy of Queen Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, the figure after whom the city is named. This vibrant city has also been home to notable figures such as the celebrated artist Romare Bearden and basketball icon Michael Jordan. Each of these personalities has contributed to the city's diverse character. Along the route, we will pause to admire the impressive street art, towering skyscrapers, and significant landmarks that define Charlotte.

At the conclusion of our 1-hour walking adventure, which will cover nearly 2 kilometers, we will finish at the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art.
