On this guided walking tour of Chefchaouen, we'll visit the historic center of this city in the Rif, also known as the blue city of Morocco.

Tour Details

We'll begin our tour by foot of Chefchaouen at a designated location in the city. We will explore the most beautiful corners of the blue city of Morocco.

Firstly, we'll make our way to the Spanish neighborhood in Chefchaouen, learning about the connections between Spain and Morocco over time, including the colonial legacy in this part of North Africa.

Continuing, we will visit the ancient medina of Chefchaouen, admiring the exterior of the Grand Mosque. We will also see Plaza Utta-el-Hamman and the imposing Kasbah or Alcazaba, which dates back to the 15th century and was built in 1471 by Rachid Ben Ali to protect the city.

Our exploration will lead us to the old city wall gates: Bab Ell Ain, Bab Souk, and Bab Onsar. As we wander under these gates, we will see Chefchaouen's famous blue houses and learn why they are decorated with indigo.

After 2 immersive hours, we will conclude our tour of Chefchaouen. Until next time!
