Description
We'll meet at Tianfu Square, in the center of Chengdu, at the scheduled time. The guided tour will begin by exploring this square, featuring monuments like the white sculpture of Mao Tse Tung and the dragon-shaped fountains. The history of Chengdu, dating back over 4000 years, will be introduced here.
Next, we will walk to the Chengdu Museum, which is the largest museum in the city. The tour will cover the history from the prehistoric period to the foundation of the People's Republic of China in the 1940s, detailing various social, political, and cultural aspects.
We will continue to Chengdu People's Park, an old underground air raid shelter used during the Second World War. We will observe locals engaging in dances and visiting the famous blind date corner.
Afterwards, we will explore the long and narrow alleyways of Chengdu, a historic area showcasing the oldest buildings, including those from the Qing dynasty and Western influences.
We will make a short stop at a café in the area to enjoy some typical tea. The tour will conclude in this part of the city after a total of 3 hours of walking.
