Cruising down the Chicago River is a notable way to experience the Windy City. Sail past its skyline and learn how Chicago became the birthplace of the skyscraper.

Tour Details

We will meet along Wacker Drive to board a boat that will take us along the skirts of the Chicago River, offering a unique perspective of the city.

Launching from the main branch of the Chicago River, we will sail to the East Bank Club. During the journey, we will view prominent buildings such as the Willis Tower, John Hancock Center, and Wrigley Building.

Onboard, informative commentary will cover the history of the buildings, architecture, and engineering that established Chicago as a pioneer in skyscraper construction and modern American architecture, transforming from a small settlement to a metropolis in under 100 years. We will also discuss the engineering feat of reversing the river's water flow—now it flows backwards.

After approximately 1.5 hours of cruising, we will return to our starting point, concluding the tour.
