Paquimé & Mata Ortiz Day Trip
At the indicated time, we'll meet you at your hotel in Chihuahua and set off for Casas Grandes. In the outskirts of this town, we'll find the Paquimé Archaeological Site, which features significant pre-Hispanic remains.
Upon arrival at Paquimé, we'll take a guided tour of the Museum of Northern Cultures. Its collection, housing numerous pre-Hispanic artefacts from northern Mexico, provides insights into the society and culture of this period.
Next, we will explore the archaeological remains of the Paquimé culture, a designated World Heritage Site. During the visit, we will learn about the customs and traditions of this ancient culture by observing the remains of their ancient constructions.
After this visit, we will proceed to Mata Ortiz, known for its handmade pottery. Here, we will attend a pottery demonstration, observing how master craftsmen work the clay to create pieces inspired by those found at the Paquimé Archaeological Site.
Following the demonstration, we'll enjoy a traditional meal at a restaurant in Mata Ortiz, featuring various local delicacies. We will then return to your hotel in Chihuahua after a total of approximately 8 hours.
