Pre-Hispanic remains from centuries long ago still stand in the state of Chihuahua. Explore them and their legacy on our day trip to the archaeological site of Paquimé and the pottery village of Mata Ortiz.
Paquimé & Mata Ortiz Day Trip
At the time indicated, we'll meet you at your hotel in Chihuahua and set off for Casas Grandes. In the outskirts of this town, we'll find the Paquimé Archaeological Site, known for its significant pre-Hispanic remains in the area.
Upon arrival at Paquimé, we'll take a guided tour of the Museum of Northern Cultures, which houses numerous pre-Hispanic artefacts from northern Mexico, providing insight into society and culture during that period.
Next, we will explore the archaeological remains of the Paquimé culture, designated a World Heritage Site, to learn about its customs and traditions through the observation of their ancient constructions.
We will then visit Mata Ortiz, known for its handmade pottery, aimed at reproducing artistic objects from the Paquimé Archaeological Site. We will attend a pottery demonstration to see how master craftsmen work the clay.
Following the demonstration, we'll enjoy a traditional meal at a restaurant in Mata Ortiz, sampling various regional delicacies.
We will return to your hotel in Chihuahua after approximately 8 hours.
