Patagonia Hike to the Cueva de las Manos
We will pick you up from your hotel in Chile Chico at 7:30 am and travel by minibus or 4x4 to the trailhead in Patagonia National Park, where the trekking route begins.
The hike is a 7-kilometer (4.4-mile), medium-difficulty route across arid landscapes of the Patagonian plains. We will observe the gradual transformation of the landscape as we distance ourselves from the shore of Lake General Carrera.
Several stops will be made to appreciate the geological features of Chilean Patagonia, including Piedra Clavada, a needle-shaped rock 40 meters (130 feet) high formed by wind erosion.
The trail leads to the Cueva de las Manos (Cave of the Hands), showcasing several paintings over 10,000 years old created by ancient inhabitants. These include petroglyphic representations of animals and hand outlines.
The final highlight will be at Lunar Valley, known for its moon-like landscapes, where we will enjoy a light snack.
We will return to the starting point of the trail and head back to your hotel in Chile Chico, arriving at approximately 1:30 pm.
