Patagonia Hike to the Cueva de las Manos

We'll pick you up from your hotel in Chile Chico at 7:30 am and travel by minibus or 4x4 to the trailhead in Patagonia National Park. The hiking route is 7-kilometers (4.4-miles), medium-difficulty, crossing arid landscapes of the Patagonian plains. As we depart from the shore of Lake General Carrera, the landscape will gradually change.

We will make several stops along the route to appreciate the geological features of Chilean Patagonia, including the Piedra Clavada, a needle-shaped rock 40 meters (130 feet) high formed by wind erosion.

The trail leads to the renowned Cueva de las Manos, where we’ll observe petroglyphs and hand outlines over 10,000 years old, painted by ancient inhabitants.

The final highlight will be in Lunar Valley, noted for its moon-like landscapes, where we'll take a light snack. We will then return to the starting point of the trail and head back to your hotel in Chile Chico, arriving at 1:30 pm.
