Sterkfontein Caves Tour
Your journey begins with a hotel pickup at a prearranged time, followed by a scenic drive towards the Sterkfontein Caves.
Approximately one hour later, we'll arrive at the Maropeng Museum, the first stop on our adventure. Have you ever wondered about the identities of Mrs. Ples, the Taung child, or Little Foot? This visit will provide insights into these fascinating figures.
Wander through the different exhibits and embark on a chronological exploration, beginning with the formation of our planet and progressing through the myriad evolutionary changes that have shaped life as we know it.
After our museum visit, we will descend into the caves themselves. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, these remarkable caves contain fossil evidence of hominids and animals dating back over four million years, making them the site of the oldest human remains discovered to date!
As you navigate through the caves, you will be entranced by their rich history and the stunning stalactites and stalagmites. The tour will also highlight how these fascinating formations came to be and their significant role in our understanding of human development.
Following an enriching 5 hours and 30 minutes of exploration, we will return you to your hotel in Johannesburg.
