Itaipu Dam Sightseeing Tour

Visit a spectacular reservoir with a hair-raising 400-foot drop on our Itaipu Dam Sightseeing Tour from Foz de Iguaçu. We'll visit this historic, binational hydroelectric dam and learn all about its construction.

Itaipu Dam Sightseeing Tour

Between 7:40 and 9 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Foz do Iguaçu. We'll then set off for the Itaipu Hydroelectric Dam, which belongs to both Paraguay and Brazil, and start our fascinating sightseeing tour.

When we arrive, we'll watch a 10-minute video at the visitor's center to learn about the development of this construction. Next, we'll board a double-decker bus with an open-air upper floor for our tour of the Itaipu Dam. During the 1-hour route, we'll make up to 3 stops for photos.

We'll stop at the Spillway viewpoint to admire the dam's water flow. We'll continue towards Paraguay through a 640-foot (196-meter) high wall while enjoying views of the subtropical forest surrounding Itaipu.

We will then conclude the tour and drop you back at your hotel in Foz do Iguaçu at 11:40 am.

Pickup

The Belmond Cataratas Hotel is not within the pickup area. If you're staying there, we'll contact you to indicate the exact location and pickup time.

Tour without pickup

If you prefer, you can book the sightseeing tour without transport. In this case, you'll need to make your way to the meeting point on Avenida Tancredo Neves. For an hour and a half, you'll enjoy a guided tour of the Itaipu Dam, taking place every half hour from 8:30 am to 5 pm.
