Itaipu Dam Tour

Between 9 and 10 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Foz do Iguaçu and set off to the Itaipu Dam, a hydroelectric reservoir erected on the Parana River with a 120-meter gross head drop.

Once we arrive, we'll watch a short 10-minute documentary about the history of this dam shared between Brazil and Paraguay. Itaipu holds the title of the largest energy producer on the planet.

The tour will continue to the Spillway viewpoint to observe how surplus water is released from the reservoir. We'll then stop at the main viewpoint to admire the dam wall, constructed from concrete, rock, and earth.

We'll explore the power production building, the control room, the water outlet channel, and the gallery housing the 20 generating units that produce 103,098,366 Watts per hour.

We will conclude this visit to one of the most significant hydroelectric power plants in the world and head back to your hotel in Foz do Iguaçu, arriving at 1 pm.
