If you're passionate about the world of engineering, then you can't miss this tour to the Itaipu Dam from Foz do Iguaçu - it made the list of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World in 1995!

Itaipu Dam Tour

Between 9 and 10 am, we will pick you up from your hotel in Foz do Iguaçu to visit the Itaipu Dam, a hydroelectric reservoir on the Parana River with a 120-meter gross head drop.

Upon arrival, we will view a 10-minute documentary about the history of this dam shared between Brazil and Paraguay. Itaipu is recognized as the largest energy producer globally.

Next, we will proceed to the Spillway viewpoint to observe how surplus water is released from the reservoir, followed by a stop at the main viewpoint to see the dam wall, made of concrete, rock, and earth.

We will then tour the power production building, the control room, the water outlet channel, and the gallery housing the 20 generating units, learning how it produces 103,098,366 Watts per hour.

The visit concludes with our departure back to your hotel in Foz do Iguaçu, arriving at 1 pm.
