Pick up at your hotel in Ciudad Valles is at 7 am, followed by an hour and a half minibus journey to Aquismón.

Upon arrival, a breakfast of coffee, enchiladas, chilaquiles or scrambled eggs, depending on the season, will be provided to energize participants before the abseiling activity.

Mexican 'sótanos' are translated as 'basement', but they refer to pit caves that are abyss-like formations that descend deep into the earth. The tour includes exploration of sótano El Cepillo, one of the most renowned in Aquismón.

All participants will receive safety equipment for abseiling as they descend through a grotto with a vertical drop of almost 160 meters (524 feet). Instructors will accompany the group throughout the descent to appreciate the stunning scenery of the Huasteca Potosina.

The final part of the cave features a small natural pool of turquoise waters where a refreshing dip is optional. After resting inside the cave, participants will begin the ascent. A restaurant will provide a dish and a drink for lunch to recharge before returning.

The excursion concludes at 7 pm with drop-off back at your hotel.
