Sighisoara and Biertan Trip
At the designated time, we'll meet at the Matias Corvino monument in the center of Cluj. From here, we'll set off on our journey to Biertan and Sighisoara.
We'll pass through the landscapes of the Carpathians as we head to Biertan. In this small village, we'll discover its fortified church, a 12th-century Saxon architecture example. Inside, we'll learn about the village's customs and culture traced to Germany.
During the excursion, we'll also visit Medias, located in Transylvania. Its cobblestone streets and ramparts make this a notable spot. Here we'll admire the exterior of St. Margaret's church, see the Trumpeters' tower, and visit a gypsy village to explore this culture and its links to blacksmithing.
We'll then continue our trip by visiting Sighisoara Citadel, recognized for its medieval architecture. Here, within the ancient walls, Vlad III "the Impaler" was born, the real-life inspiration for the Dracula myth.
We'll make another stop in Sighisoara for you to grab something to eat at a local restaurant (not included).
Afterward, we’ll discuss life in the medieval city, detailing the different guilds and the fourteen towers that formed the wall, of which nine remain today.
Our tour concludes with a visit to the Church on the Hill. Climbing its 170 steps offers a view of this Gothic jewel. The restored frescoes inside will impress you!
We'll finish our adventure after a total of 11 hours back at the meeting point in Cluj.
