Pilgrims to Burgundy were captivated by Cluny Abbey, which was the largest Christian church in the world until St. Peter's Basilica was built. Understanding the history of Art in Europe requires knowledge of Cluny Abbey, whose Romanesque architecture inspired other European shrines. This ticket permits entry to the remains of the abbey, founded in 909.

Visitors can explore the cloister of Cluny and learn about the practices of the Benedictine monks, whose lifestyle influenced other religious orders in Europe during the Middle Ages. Inside this European Heritage site, visitors may also see one of the campuses of the Arts et Métiers ParisTech University.

Opening Times

Cluny Abbey is open from Monday to Sunday at the following times:

April 1 - June 30: from 9:30 am to 6 pmJuly 1 - August 31: from 9:30 am to 7 pmSeptember 1 - 30: from 9:30 am to 6 pmOctober 1 - March 31: from 9:30 am to 5 pm

The Museum of Art and Archaeology will be closed between 12:30 pm and 2 pm until the end of the year. On January 28, 2025, the abbey and museum will open at 11:30 am instead of 9:30 am. The last access to the abbey is 45 minutes before closing, and for the museum, it is 30 minutes before closing.

Free Admission

Admission to Cluny Abbey is free for:

Young people from the EU aged 18 to 25.Children under 18, regardless of nationality.

Free admission is also available on the first Sunday of the month between January 1 and March 31, and November 1 and December 31, as well as the third weekend of September. To obtain free admission, present a certifying document at the ticket office.
