Pilgrims to Burgundy were captivated by Cluny Abbey's magnificent structure. This Benedictine monastery was the largest Christian church until St. Peter's Basilica was built. The history of Art in Europe is tied to Cluny Abbey, whose Romanesque architecture influenced other shrines. This ticket grants access to the abbey's remains dating back to 909.

Visiting the cloister and abbey buildings provides insight into the faith and lifestyles of the monks, which inspired other religious orders in Europe. The site also includes what was once part of the Arts et Métiers ParisTech University.

Opening Times

Cluny Abbey is open from Monday to Sunday at the following times:

April 1 - June 30: 9:30 am - 6 pmJuly 1 - August 31: 9:30 am - 7 pmSeptember 1 - 30: 9:30 am - 6 pmOctober 1 - March 31: 9:30 am - 5 pm

The Museum of Art and Archaeology is closed from 12:30 pm to 2 pm until year-end. On January 28, 2025, both Cluny Abbey and the museum will open at 11:30 am. Every visitor must note that all times are subject to change. Last access to the abbey is 45 minutes before closing; for the museum, it is 30 minutes before.

Free Admission

Admission to Cluny Abbey is free for:

Young people from the EU aged 18-25.Children under 18, regardless of nationality.

Additionally, entry is free on the first Sunday of each month from January to March and November to December, as well as the third weekend of September. To receive free admission, visit the ticket office and present a certifying document for eligibility.
