Pilgrims were captivated by Cluny Abbey’s magnificent structure. This Benedictine monastery was the largest Christian church until St. Peter's Basilica was built in Rome. Understanding the history of Art in Europe requires knowledge of Cluny Abbey, which inspired Romanesque architecture across Europe. This ticket provides access to the abbey's remains dating back to 909.

Visitors will learn about the lifestyle of the Benedictine monks and their influence on other religious orders during the Middle Ages. Inside this European Heritage site, you will also find what was once part of the elegant campus of Arts et Métiers ParisTech University.

Opening Times

Cluny Abbey is open from Monday to Sunday at the following times:

April 1 - June 30: 9:30 am - 6 pmJuly 1 - August 31: 9:30 am - 7 pmSeptember 1 - 30: 9:30 am - 6 pmOctober 1 - March 31: 9:30 am - 5 pm

The Museum of Art and Archaeology is closed between 12:30 pm and 2 pm until the end of the year. On December 24 and December 31, the abbey closes at 4:00 pm. On January 28, 2025, both Cluny Abbey and the Museum will open at 11:30 am. The last access to the abbey is 45 minutes before closing, and the last access to the museum is 30 minutes before closing.

Free Admission

Admission to Cluny Abbey is free for:

Young people from the EU aged 18 to 25.Children under 18 years, regardless of nationality.

Additionally, admission is free on the first Sunday of the month from January to March and November to December, as well as on the 3rd weekend of September. To claim free admission, visit the ticket office with a certifying document of eligibility.
