3-Day Private Tour of Toro Toro, Itas and Valle Alto

Day 1: Cochabamba - Toro Toro - Umajalanta

Our adventure begins at 8 am at Calle Baptista, where we will board a bus for a five-hour journey to Toro Toro National Park, departing from Cochabamba. Our route takes us through charming colonial towns, including Tarata and Anzaldo.

Upon arrival, we will check into our hotel and embark on an exploration of the Toro Toro valley canyon. This stunning site boasts dinosaur footprints from ancient times, along with impressive geological layers from the prehistoric Cretaceous Sea.

As day one concludes, we will return to our hotel in Toro Toro for a well-deserved dinner and rest.

Day 2: Itas - Cochabamba

After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, we will set out towards Itas, located at an altitude of 700 meters. As we wander through sandstone labyrinths, we’ll encounter towering rock structures, creating the sensation of traversing a city carved from stone. The highlight of our visit will manifest within the tunnels, showcasing mysterious cave paintings.

Following this enlightening experience, we will head back to Toro Toro to gather our belongings before returning to Cochabamba.

Day 3: High Valley - Cochabamba

Following breakfast, we will venture to the High Valley, where a variety of attractions await us. Our first stop will be the town of Arani, renowned for traditional dishes like mama qonqachis, which is a type of large cheese bread. We will explore the church of San Bartolomé, celebrated for its Renaissance architecture and affectionately referred to as La Bella.

Next, we will visit Punata, the jewel of the Valle Alto, a significant site during the Bolivian War of Independence. Here, we will witness the production of rosquetes, a local sweet crafted from flour, eggs, butter, and sugar.

Our journey will continue to Huayculi, recognized as the pottery capital. In this scenic village, we’ll delve into the ancient tradition of pottery, which has been preserved through generations, and we will take a stroll through the picturesque colonial streets of Tarata.

At the day’s end, we will return to Cochabamba, concluding our tour at approximately 5 pm on Calle Baptista.
