Discover the history of Kochi on our tour of the historic city center, highlighting the legacy of Portuguese colonial times.

Guided Tour of Kochi

The guided tour starts at the port of Kochi, where we board a minibus to the oldest area of the city, Fort Kochi. Here, we will observe the traditional 'Chinese fishing nets', Learn about their use and history, imported to India from China in the 14th century.

Next, we visit St. Francis Church, one of the oldest European churches in India, where the remains of Vasco da Gama rested until 1539. Nearby, we encounter the Santa Cruz Cathedral Basilica, known for its stained glass windows and paintings.

From Fort Kochi, we proceed to the neighborhood of Dhobi Khana to explore the Mattancherry Palace (Dutch Palace) and the Paradesi Synagogue, a key Jewish shrine in southern India, revealing the history of this community in Asia.

The tour concludes with a return to the port of Kochi.

This tour is recommended for cruise passengers arriving at the port of Kochi.The tour typically begins at 8 am. If your cruise arrives later, the tour will start 45 minutes after your scheduled arrival time.Please specify your arriving boat for appropriate arrangements.

Important information

The Paradesi Synagogue is closed from midday on Fridays and on Saturdays and Jewish festivities.The Mattancherry Palace is closed on Fridays and local holidays.
