Immerse yourself in the culture of this region of Mexico by visiting the frozen waterfalls of Hierve el Agua and Teotitlán del Valle, known for its textile tradition.
Description
The tour begins with hotel pickup and a journey southeast from Oaxaca to the frozen waterfalls of Hierve el Agua in San Isidro de Roaguía. The waterfalls consist of a 100-foot (30 meters) and a 40-foot (12 meters) fall, formed over 2,500 years ago from calcium carbonate saturation. The area is a sacred site for the Zapotec people and features natural pools for bathing amid lush landscapes.
The tour continues with a demonstration of mezcal production, highlighting the 120 varieties of agave found in the region, followed by tastings. Participants will have 1 hour of free time for lunch at Palenque Mezcal. After lunch, the group will proceed to Teotitlán del Valle, located 30 minutes from Oaxaca, to witness traditional Zapotec textile production, including wool products decorated with natural dyes.
The return journey to Oaxaca will conclude at the hotel around 6 pm.
