Immerse yourself in the culture of this region of Mexico by visiting the frozen waterfalls of Hierve el Agua and Teotitlán del Valle, known for its textile tradition.
Description
After hotel pickup, we will travel southeast from Oaxaca to the impressive frozen waterfalls of Hierve el Agua in San Isidro de Roaguía. Here, you can enjoy views of two natural falls: one at 100 feet (30 metres) and another at 40 feet (12 metres). This site, surrounded by lush vegetation, was formed over 2,500 years ago by calcium carbonate saturation and is considered sacred by the Zapotec people.
You will have the opportunity to bathe in natural pools and enjoy landscapes of the Madre del Sur mountain range. The tour continues with a visit to a mezcal production site, showcasing 120 of the 210 agave varieties globally and allowing you to taste different regional mezcals.
Enjoy 1 hour for lunch in Palenque Mezcal before heading to Teotitlán del Valle, just half an hour from Oaxaca. This town maintains traditional Zapotec practices, highlighting the production of wool products, textiles, and dyes that blend traditional Zapotec designs with contemporary styles. We will return to your hotel around 6 pm.
