Ocotlán de Morelos is a small town located in the central valleys region. This tour allows you to explore its neoclassical church, visit the local market, and discover a square where residents from across the Oaxaca region gather to sell their products.

Ocotlan Day Trip

We will collect you from your hotel in Oaxaca and travel towards Ocotlán de Morelos, situated 45 kilometers from the city center.

As we stroll through the streets of this traditional town, we will make our way to the Ocotlán Basilica, which is beautifully adorned in the neoclassical style.

Next, we will visit the local market where you can savor typical regional delicacies (not included), followed by a walk through the traditional square, where every Friday, Oaxaca's residents gather to offer their artisanal wares. Here, you can purchase food, utensils, and textiles while enjoying the lively atmosphere filled with music from the plaza.

Continuing on our excursion, we will head to Santo Tomás Jalieza, a community known for its traditional Mesoamerican weaving, producing a vivid array of colorful items.

The highlight of this tour is a visit to San Martín Tilcajete, where we will learn about the creation of 'alebrijes', vibrant sculptures inspired by fantasy and initially conceived by Pedro Linares in the 1930s, which have become emblematic of Oaxaca's artisanal culture.

After the tour, we will return to Oaxaca, with an estimated arrival time of around 5:30 pm.
