Ocotlán de Morelos is a small town in the central valleys region, where this tour highlights its neoclassical church, the local market, and a square frequented by residents of the Oaxaca region selling their products.

Ocotlan Day Trip

We will pick you up from your hotel in Oaxaca for a trip to Ocotlán de Morelos, located 45 kilometers from the city center. The tour includes walking through the town's streets, visiting the Ocotlán Basilica, known for its neoclassical decoration.

You will explore the local market, where regional delicacies are available (not included), and visit the traditional square that hosts a market every Friday, featuring artisanal wares for purchase, including food, utensils, and textiles amidst a lively atmosphere.

Next, the tour will take you to Santo Tomás Jalieza, a community known for traditional mesoamerican weaving, which showcases a vibrant array of colors in their products.

The concluding visit will be to San Martín Tilcajete, where you will learn about the creation of 'alebrijes', colorful sculptures that originated from the work of Pedro Linares in the 1930s and are now symbols of Oaxaca's artisanal culture.

Upon completion, we will return to Oaxaca, arriving around 5:30 pm.
