On this tour from Coimbra, you'll walk along the wooden Paiva Walkways, the most famous trails in Northern Portugal.

At the agreed time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Coimbra and head to the river beach of Areinho, located on the banks of the Paiva River.

Once there, we'll provide brief directions and prepare to start our hike through the Paiva Walkways. The hike will cover 8 kilometers (5 miles) and will take approximately two and a half hours.

While walking along the wooden walkways over the Paiva River, called passadiços in Portuguese, we'll learn about the geology of this natural site in Northern Portugal. Discussions will include local fauna and flora, as well as the archaeological significance of the area.

Halfway, we'll make a brief stop to rest at Praia do Vau. Here, we'll explain how the wooden walkways were rebuilt, a project recognized by the World Travel Awards in 2016 as the Leading Tourism Development Project in Europe.

From Praia do Vau, we'll continue our hike through the Paiva Walkways to Espiunca river beach. We will then return to your hotel in Coimbra, arriving four and a half hours after the pick-up time.
