Tomar, Batalha & Alcobaça Day Trip

On this day trip from Coimbra, we will visit three significant World Heritage Sites in Portugal: Tomar, Batalha, and Alcobaça.

We will pick you up from your hotel in Coimbra at the scheduled time and begin our journey, starting with Tomar. The drive will take approximately 50 minutes.

In Tomar, known as the Knights Templar City, we will visit the castle of Tomar and the Convent of Christ, a Templar sanctuary inspired by the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. After this visit, you will have free time to experience traditional Portuguese cuisine at a local restaurant.

Next, we will travel to Batalha to visit the Monastery of Santa Maria da Vitoria, a site recognized for its architectural and historical significance, which was integral to the consecration of João I as king of Portugal and is one of the Seven Wonders of Portugal.

Our final destination will be the Alcobaça Monastery, the first Gothic building in Portugal and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1989. We will tour its interior, including the dining room, kitchen, dormitory, chapter house, and cloisters.

After eight hours, we will return to your hotel in Coimbra.
