On this day trip to Tomar, Batalha, and Alcobaça from Coimbra, we will visit three World Heritage Sites in Portugal.

Tomar, Batalha & Alcobaça Day Trip

At the scheduled time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Coimbra and head to Tomar first, then visit Batalha and Alcobaça.

After about 50 minutes of driving, we will arrive at Tomar, known as the Knights Templar City. We will visit the castle of Tomar and the Convent of Christ, a Templar sanctuary built in the image of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem.

Following this visit, there will be free time to sample traditional Portuguese cuisine at a local restaurant at your leisure.

Next, we will travel to Batalha to visit the Monastery of Santa Maria da Vitoria, which holds significant architectural and historical value. Its construction marked the consecration of João I as king of Portugal, and it is one of the Seven Wonders of Portugal.

Our last stop will be the Alcobaça Monastery, the first Gothic building in Portugal and a Unesco World Heritage Site since 1989. We will tour its interior, including the dining room, kitchen, dormitory, chapter house, and cloisters.

After eight hours, we will return to your hotel in Coimbra.
