Tomar, Batalha & Alcobaça Day Trip

On this day trip, we will visit three World Heritage Sites in Portugal: Tomar, Batalha, and Alcobaça. We will pick you up from your hotel in Coimbra and proceed to Tomar first, followed by Batalha and then Alcobaça.

After approximately 50 minutes of driving, we will arrive in Tomar, known as the Knights Templar City. Here, we will explore the castle of Tomar and the Convent of Christ, a Templar sanctuary modeled after the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem.

Following this visit, you will have free time to enjoy traditional Portuguese cuisine at a local restaurant.

Next, we will travel to Batalha to visit the Monastery of Santa Maria da Vitoria, significant for its architectural and historical value and marking the consecration of João I as king of Portugal. This site is recognized as one of the Seven Wonders of Portugal.

Our final stop will be the Alcobaça Monastery, the first Gothic building in Portugal and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1989. We will tour its interior, including the dining room, kitchen, dormitory, chapter house, and cloisters.

After eight hours, we will return to your hotel in Coimbra.
