Tour Details
We will pick you up from your hotel in La Serena at the indicated time. During the journey, you'll enjoy the sights of Quebrada Juan Soldado and the geological sanctuary of Caleta Hornos.
After about an hour, our first stop will be at Quebrada Los Choros, where you'll observe the native flora and fauna. We will then proceed for another 30 minutes to the small cove of Punta de Choros. Upon arrival at this pier, we’ll embark on a boat trip to the main islands of the Pingüino de Humboldt National Reserve.
We will first sail along the coast of Choros Island to view the colony of Humboldt penguins, as well as sea lions and marine otters. The island also supports numerous bird species.
The trip continues to Damas Island, where bottlenose dolphins can be seen. You will have an hour of free time to stroll along the beach of Las Tijeras; swimming, eating, or drinking is prohibited to preserve the scenery.
After the boat trip, we will head to a restaurant for a Chilean lunch, which includes starter, main course, dessert, and a drink, with vegetarian options available. Lastly, we will visit the historic town of Los Choros and return to your hotel in La Serena, with arrival scheduled for about 10 to 11 hours after pickup.
Animal Sightings
The Choros and Damas islands are prime locations in the Pingüino de Humboldt National Reserve for seeing marine wildlife. However, sightings depend on various factors, including weather and mating seasons.
