On this day trip to Damas Island, we'll visit the Pingüino de Humboldt National Reserve, where we'll discover its landscapes and local fauna.
Tour Details
On the day of the activity, we'll pick you up from your hotel in La Serena at the indicated time. During the journey, you'll enjoy the sights of the Quebrada Juan Soldado and the geological sanctuary of Caleta Hornos.
After approximately an hour, our first stop will be Quebrada Los Choros, where you'll discover the native flora and fauna of this region. We'll then drive for another 30 minutes to Punta de Choros, where we will embark on a boat trip to the main islands of the Pingüino de Humboldt National Reserve.
We'll sail along the coast of Choros Island, observing a large colony of Humboldt penguins, sea lions, and marine otters. The island serves as a habitat for numerous bird species, such as pelicans and boobies.
The trip will continue to Damas Island, where you can see bottlenose dolphins. We will anchor at this island for an hour of free time to stroll along the beach of Las Tijeras, with restrictions on swimming, eating, or drinking to preserve its pristine scenery.
After the boat trip, we will return to Punta de Choros and visit a restaurant for a Chilean lunch, including a starter, main course, dessert, and a drink, with vegetarian options available.
Before returning to La Serena, we'll stop in the historic town of Los Choros, then return to your hotel, arriving about 10 to 11 hours after pickup.
Animal Sightings
The Choros and Damas islands are prime locations to see marine wildlife. However, animal sightings are unpredictable and depend on factors such as weather and mating seasons.
