Itinerary for the Guided Tour of the Alcazar & Jewish Quarter
Your adventure begins at the Puerta del Perdoón in central Cordoba, where you'll embark on a walking tour through the enchanting areas of this stunning Andalusian city, recognized as a World Heritage Site.
Commencing your journey, you will approach the iconic Puerta de Almodóvar, an entrance integrated into the ancient Roman walls that once defended the city. Here, you will be greeted by a notable figure from Cordoba’s past: Seneca, a renowned Roman philosopher represented by a statue in the vicinity. Close to the end of the wall, you will find another bronze figure, this time of Averroes, the eminent Arab philosopher and intellect.
After this, you will wander deeper into the slender streets of the Jewish Quarter, an area notable for housing a statue of the illustrious Jewish philosopher, astronomer, and physician Maimonides.
Then, your path will lead you out of the Jewish Quarter to the Alcazar de los Reyes Cristianos, known as the Castle of the Christian Monarchs. As you traverse this historic site on your guided tour, you will be transported back in time, taking in the exquisite Moorish gardens. Additionally, you will encounter a sculpture celebrating the meeting of Christopher Columbus with Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand that took place in this very castle.
The guided tour will conclude after around 2.5 hours, marking the end of your immersive experience.
Partial Closures
Please be aware that due to renovations, the Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos will be closed until June 16. During this period, the tour will visit the Caliphal Baths, resulting in a 30-minute shorter experience. Post June 16, you will then have the opportunity to explore the gardens of the Alcázar.
