Córdoba Jesuit Block Tour
Our tour will begin at the courtyard of the Historical Museum of the National University of Córdoba, where we'll meet at your chosen time. This institution, founded by the Society of Jesus in 1613, is the oldest university in Argentina and one of the oldest in Latin America.
In the cloister of the National University of Cordoba, we will see the sculpture of Friar Fernando Trejo y Sanabria and further discuss it during the tour. Our visit will continue to the Salón de Grados (the former Chapel of the Spaniards) and the Main Library, which houses an extensive collection.
After the UNC, we'll view other significant buildings on the Jesuit Block from outside, including the Colegio Nacional de Monserrat. Additionally, we will visit the Church of the Society of Jesus, where the main altarpiece depicts the founders of the order: St. Ignatius of Loyola and St. Francis Xavier.
To conclude our tour, we'll visit the Jesuit Domestic Chapel, built in the 17th century, to learn more about the Jesuit legacy in Cordoba.
After 2 hours 30 minutes of sightseeing, we will conclude our tour on Colón Avenue, just a few meters from the Jesuit Block. There, we will visit the Jesuit Crypt of the Old Novitiate and discuss its discovery.
