Discover the religious and cultural legacy of the Society of Jesus on our Córdoba Jesuit Block Tour, which features a World Heritage Site.
Córdoba Jesuit Block Tour
The tour begins at the courtyard of the Historical Museum of the National University of Córdoba, where participants will gather at the chosen time. This university, founded by the Society of Jesus in 1613, is the oldest in Argentina and among the oldest in Latin America.
In the cloister of the National University of Córdoba (UNC), we will view the sculpture of Friar Fernando Trejo y Sanabria. The tour continues to the Salón de Grados (former Chapel of the Spaniards) and the Main Library, which has a notable collection of books.
Next, we will observe other significant buildings from outside, such as the Colegio Nacional de Monserrat and the Church of the Society of Jesus. Inside, we will see the main altarpiece featuring St. Ignatius of Loyola and St. Francis Xavier.
The tour concludes with a visit to the Jesuit Domestic Chapel, constructed in the 17th century, where we will explore the legacy of the Jesuits in Córdoba.
After 2 hours 30 minutes of exploration, the tour will end on Colón Avenue, where we will visit the Jesuit Crypt of the Old Novitiate.
