Discover the archaeological ruins of the Medieval citadel constructed in the first half of the 10th century by Abd-ar-Rahman III, the first Umayyad Caliph of Cordoba.

Medina Azahara Guided Tour

At the specified time, we will meet at the Paseo de la Victoria in Cordoba and then travel by bus to Medina Azahara, located 8 kilometres (4.9 miles) from the city. Abandoned shortly after its construction and rediscovered at the end of the 19th century, it spans 276 acres (112 hectares) and is one of the largest archaeological sites in Spain.

Upon arrival at the ruins, we will visit the Medina Azahara Museum to explore the site and view a collection of artifacts. Following this, we will take a shuttle bus to the archaeological site for a guided tour, where we will explore the 10 percent of the site that has been uncovered. The guide will provide insights into the fortress's limestone walls with arabesque carvings, golden ceilings, and other notable features of the palace complex.

Experience the 10th century as we walk through the ancient fortified city, viewing mosques, towers, servants' quarters, bath complexes, and aristocratic residences. At the end of our visit, we will return to the meeting point in Cordoba by bus after approximately 3.5 hours.

If you prefer to travel at your own pace, you can reserve the activity without transport. In this case, we will meet at the Medina Azahara car park.
