Mosque-Cathedral & Alcázar Guided Tour

We'll meet at 10 am at Plaza del Triunfo, near the Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba. After learning about the origins of this monument, we'll embark on a guided tour of its interior.

During our tour of this historic place of worship, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, we'll visit extensions ordered by emirs such as Abderramán III and Alhakén II. Walking through the forest of columns, we'll reach the mihrab, the horseshoe-arched prayer niche.

We'll also visit the transept nave before heading to the Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos. Here, we'll review the history of this medieval fortress and see remains from Roman times.

Inside the Alcázar, we'll visit the Hall of the Mosaics, which once housed a chapel from the Spanish Inquisition. Finally, we'll enjoy the Alcázar Gardens featuring Andalusian-style fountains and a sculpture of the Catholic Monarchs meeting Christopher Columbus. Our guided tour will conclude at the Alcázar's main entrance after 3 to 3.5 hours.

Important Info

Due to a structural reform inside the Alcázar, access to under-construction rooms is not possible. Instead, we'll explore the historic gardens and the Monolito de Cristóbal Colón, along with a visit to the Caliphal Baths, reflecting the splendor of the Caliphate period.
