On this guided tour of Corfu, you'll discover the history among two Venetian fortresses in the island's capital. It is a significant tour.
Tour Details
We will meet at the entrance of the Old Fortress of Corfu to begin this guided tour of the island's capital's most emblematic sites.
Initially, we will walk through the Boschetto Garden. Next, we'll proceed to the Palace of St. Michael and St. George, which was once the summer residence for a Greek royal family and now houses the Museum of Asian Art of Corfu.
We will continue along the pedestrian street of Listón to arrive at Spianada Square, the main square in Corfu's old town and one of Europe's largest squares, where cricket games are occasionally played. We will explain this occurrence.
Next, we will view the Teatro di San Giacomo, the center of Greek opera from 1733 to 1893, and the venue where Antonio Vivaldi rehearsed. In 1903, it became the City Hall.
Lastly, we will explore the Jewish Quarter to learn about the Jewish community in Corfu, which dates back to the 12th century and has significantly influenced the island's society.
We will conclude this 2.5-hour tour back in the old town near the starting point.
