On this guided tour of Corfu, you'll explore the history hidden among two Venetian fortresses in the island's capital.
Tour Details
At the designated time, we'll meet at the entrance of the Old Fortress of Corfu to start this guided tour of the island's capital's most emblematic sites.
We'll begin with a stroll through the tree-lined Boschetto Garden. From there, we'll proceed to the Palace of St. Michael and St. George, the former summer residence of a royal Greek family, which now houses the Museum of Asian Art of Corfu.
Next, we'll walk along the pedestrian street of Listón until we reach Spianada Square, the main square of Corfu's old town and one of Europe's largest squares, known for occasionally hosting cricket games.
We'll then admire the old Teatro di San Giacomo, the center of Greek opera from 1733 to 1893, where Antonio Vivaldi rehearsed, and which became the City Hall in 1903.
Finally, we'll explore the Jewish Quarter to learn about the Jewish community in Corfu, which has roots dating back to the 12th century and significantly influenced the island's society.
This 2.5-hour tour will conclude in the old town, near the starting point.
