Communism Tour of Krakow
At the scheduled time, we will meet at the front door of St. Mary's Basilica to start a tour focused on the communist era in Krakow. The guided tour will feature key monuments from this period.
We will explore the aftermath of the German occupation following World War II and the establishment of the Polish People's Republic. The exterior of the Universities of Science and Technology and the University of Agriculture will showcase sculptures significant to the history of communism in Krakow and Poland.
Questions about the Polish population's way of life, the establishment of socialism, and improvements under the regime will be addressed by our expert guide. Participants will gain in-depth knowledge of Krakow's history.
The tour will include visits to areas where the communist regime employed repression against the populace, focusing on some of the darkest events in Krakow's history.
We will also visit the headquarters of the Solidarity trade union and old factories near the city center. A stop at one of Krakow's milk bars, a symbol of that era, will be included.
The tour concludes at the Jubilat building, the largest supermarket in Krakow during the communist era. The duration of the tour is 2 hours.
