Communism Tour of Krakow

At the scheduled time, we'll meet at the front door of St. Mary's Basilica to start a tour that will take you back to the communist era in Krakow. During the guided tour, we'll visit key monuments from this period.

The tour will cover the end of the German occupation after World War II and the birth of the Polish People's Republic. We will walk around the Universities of Science and Technology and the University of Agriculture, observing sculptures that highlight the significance of communism in Krakow and Poland.

Questions about the way of life for the Polish population, the establishment of socialism in Poland, and improvements under this regime will be addressed by our expert guide, enhancing your understanding of the history of Krakow.

We will also explore areas where the Polish communist regime implemented repression against the population, examining some of the most challenging historical episodes for Krakow residents.

The tour includes a visit to the headquarters of the Solidarity trade union and nearby old factories. Additionally, we will stop at one of Krakow's famous milk bars, representative of life during that time.

Finally, we will reach the Jubilat building, Krakow's largest supermarket during the communist era. The tour will conclude after 2 hours.
